Who? Susan Lustenberger of Surf Betty Sue Designs

What do you do? I design and create upscale beach inspired designs for weddings and other special events. I create everything from guest favors, napkin rings, guestbook and chair ornaments to centerpieces, chandeliers and I even have the most beautiful seashell and coral altar for Beach Weddings, available to rent.

Tell us about the Wedding Designs you create: I use the bride's look as an inspiration. I will take the same jewels in her headpiece and dress and apply them to key decor elements for her wedding day. For a recent wedding I added jeweled starfish to the wedding cake.
  
Your former life? In 1992 I left a job in PR to head up marketing for a large event planning company in Beverly Hills.  Then I was recruited to do special events for the hotel industry.  I worked for many years with Hilton and Starwood hotels.
  
After getting married (On the beach, of course) and having children,  we moved to San Diego, where I opened my own design studio specializing in Beach decor for the home.

  
Your turning point? When my two little girls were in a wedding last year.  I saw the magical look in thier eyes when they saw their first Bride, I was inspired!  Being a girly girl myself, the perpetual wedding fantasy has been deeply rooted in my soul.
  
I realized that if I combined all of the things that I was really good at, it would result in the most elegant beach events ever.  And celebrating LOVE.....well thats just icing on the cake!
